Beaumont at the Chrysler Building

"Art Deco in France found its American equivalent in the design of the New York skyscrapers of the 1920s. The Chrysler Building was one of the most accomplished essays in the style."

—John Julius Norwich, ed. The World Atlas of Architecture

The Chrysler Building is considered an archetypal American Art Deco skyscraper, with gargoyles, artifacts, and a landmark tower. The exterior of the building reflects the Chrysler automobile. The building is faced with Nircosta metal, which resembles platinum, and is decorated with sculptural ornaments similar to hood ornaments. The radiating curves on the building's dome mimic giant sunbeams, a popular Art Deco theme.

At 77 floors and 1078 feet, it was the tallest building in the world for one year, until the completion of the Empire State Building in 1931. Thanks to its unusual spire, which is gracefully lighted at night, it is a star of the New York City skyline.

In our 25 years, Beaumont has been involved in a variety of projects in the Chrysler Building.
